Public Transit

Mesa is the starting point for Valley Metro’s light rail system, which is 26 miles in length and connects passengers easily to destinations within the cities of Tempe and Phoenix. Downtown Mesa residents or visitors can board the train at the Main Street stations at Mesa Drive, Center Street, or Country Club Drive. Tickets can be purchased at the light rail stations. All day fares are just $4 per adult or $2 for passengers aged 6-18, or 65 and older (children 5 and below do not require a ticket). All day fares are valid on both light rail and the bus. For trip planning assistance, visit Valley Metro’s website.

In late spring 2019, the Gilbert Road Light Rail Extension will add two more stations on Main Street at Stapley Drive and Gilbert Road. Below shows Valley Metro’s current light rail system extension construction and study completion dates.
