Publicity and Advertising

We are always seeking interesting information and new story ideas for the Downtown Focus, our popular downtown newsletter (published every two months). Contact DMA and let us know what is going on at your place of business - promotions, new services/products, awards, events, interesting tidbits - and we will publicize it for you.

Other printed materials such as Downtown's The Place! publicize the many places downtown has to dine, shop, play and more.

In addition, downtown Mesa's square mile is on line on this website.

Press Releases

Let the East Valley and beyond know about significant happenings at your downtown business. DMA staff will write and distribute press release materials to local media at your request.

DMA also produces a weekly e-mail bulletin, Downtown Bits & Bytes, to keep you up to date on downtown happenings.

Networking Opportunities

There are a variety of opportunities for businesses to become acquainted and to learn more about DMA and the services we provide.

Direct Mail Services

DMA can direct your business through many of the steps it takes to produce direct mail pieces. Contact the DMA office staff for personal assistance.

Mailing Labels - Labels are available with the address of businesses within the mile square. This free label service is provided to all downtown businesses who want to produce seasonal marketing mailers.

Bulk Mail Permit Service - Using the DMA bulk mail permit number, businesses can save the $185/year permit fee and save approximately 18 cents per piece when mailing more than 200 identical pieces. The savings really add up!

Event Facilitation

DMA facilitates a variety of events and activities held in the downtown square mile (e.g., Mesa Old West Days, 2nd Fridays, permanent sculptures, holiday decorations) through its event facilitation corporation, Ultimate Imaginations, Inc. Our staff provides considerable technical and operational advice and support, as well as generating publicity and exposure for downtown businesses and community events.

Business Development

If you are interested in any of the businesses located downtown, DMA has all the information you need.

Downtown Business Directories - Handy directories both alphabetical and categorical for contacting fellow downtown businesses.

Downtown Property Availability - A sought-after publication by Realtors and prospective investors listing property/space in the original square mile for sale, lease or sublease. You may also view this report on line by clicking HERE.

Downtown Investment Kits - Assembled for those interested in learning more about the downtown district for potential investment purposes (e.g., demographics, traffic counts, economic statistics, etc.). Let us know if you receive downtown locational inquiries because we can help!

Business Services

Providing business services for owners, employees and customers is part of DMA's services.

Parking Management Brochure - Illustrates the location of licensed and free long-term public parking spaces for businesses that do not have on-site parking for their employees and customers. Free customer day passes, event parking, time parking, and courtesy citations are also explained.

Other Business Services - a variety of other business services are tailored to individual businesses after a market and needs assessment is made.

Public Space

Management Services

These services are covered in more detail in individual publications available at DMA, some of which are referenced below.

Cleanliness/Maintenance Programs

DMA has a comprehensive, seven-day-a-week cleanliness and maintenance program with its four Clean Sweep Ambassadors and a few hundred community service workers throughout the year. Issues pertaining to inoperable vehicles; junk, weeds, debris, and outside storage; yard maintenance, graffiti, fences in disrepair, open and vacant buildings and other signs of visual pollution are resolved with owners and tenants in cooperation with the City of Mesa.

Business Security Liaison

and Crime Prevention Programs

DMA has a Safe & Sound In Downtown strategy for business security and crime prevention through a part-time Safe & Sound Coordinator. DMA works closely with the Mesa Police Department and owners, employees, and customers/clients within downtown to make downtown safe for everyone. "No Trespassing" signs (bilingual) are available from DMA for $10 each (a great savings).

Zoning, Design Review

and Building Code Liaison

DMA provides private sector expertise, perspective and liaison advice in coordinating with City of Mesa staff on zoning, sign code, design review and building code matters. The Mesa Fire Department also has a program, 'Partners in Prevention' in which a fire safety checklist is provided for businesses to self-administer. DMA encourages this partnership.

These services, along with existing marketing and business plan strategies round out our ‘year-round' DMA services offered. Stop by a DMA board or committee meeting - just call for the schedule. We have committed board members who represent you, and a dedicated staff following through on board policies and approved projects and activities. We look forward to seeing you use these services for your benefit and the benefit of downtown as a whole.
