Oct. 23-25:

Mesa Storytelling Festival

The Mesa Storytelling Festival, the Valley’s largest storytelling event, will celebrate the art of storytelling, a love of reading and the power of the imagination on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23-25 at Mesa Arts Center, 1 E. Main St.

 

National, regional and youth talent will gather to share a wide array of folk tales, tall tales and other tales from all over the globe.

 

The free festival on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. will include food and vendor booths, live music and stories from regional and youth tellers.

 

The national tellers will appear on the stages of Mesa Arts Center during indoor evening concerts. The “Best of the West” concert will be Thursday at 7 p.m., the “Teller’s Treasure” concert will be Friday at 7 p.m., and the “Humor-Us” concert will be Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $11 for each concert.

Low and Slow: The Art of the Lowrider

Low and Slow: The Art of the Lowrider will showcase the art of customized cars by a unique collection of lowrider artists. From the art of pin striping, muraling and car customizing, the culture that came from the streets is now being featured in art galleries and museums around the world.

Beneath the Skin:

Artwork Inspired by Tattoos

Beneath the Skin: Artwork Inspired by Tattoos will feature national artists whose works are inspired by the art and culture of tattoos.
